Are You Interested in Reducing Plastic Waste & Other Ocean Issues?

Join us later this year as we launch the CBO Initiative To Reduce Ocean Plastic Waste. Our core objective is to effect real change at the point of purchase for these convenience-based plastic products.

Simply put, we need to use less disposable plastic products. Plastic waste is not only filling our landfills to over capacity, but our coastlines and tropical islands worldwide, killing millions of sea birds and marine life annually.

Welcome to the Clear Blue OCEANS website! Together with the CBO Foundation of Canada, our North American branch based in Vancouver, Canada, we will be setting out to effect a change in the way the world views the oceans and uses plastic packaging and products.

We will address the over-fishing of our oceans, the needless killing of sharks for shark fin soup, marine conservation issues and launch a program you can join!

Our Initiative To Reduce Ocean Plastic Waste will drive much of our overall objectives and awareness information programs. This website is being redesigned to integrate a full video streaming channel for our new Internet series based in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) called Clear Blue Heaven starting in late 2012.

Together with the support of our global Partners we will set out to build a powerful new voice for our oceans and see first hand how plastic waste and climate change impact us.

Together we will change the mind-set of how people view the oceans, our largest natural food resource on Earth, and reduce the use of one-time only, convenience-based, plastic beverage bottles in particular, but plastic food container packaging in general.

Watch the short video below featuring Captain Charles Moore, as he shares his findings of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and the impact of plastic on our oceans.

As Captain Moore points out, plastic waste has polluted our largest natural food resource – the oceans, to the point that our fish and seafood, and thereby us, are being poisoned at an alarming rate.

In North America alone, we discard an unbelievable 2.5 million plastic beverage containers, mostly water bottles every five minutes. That is more than 2.4 billion plastic bottles each month or over 28 billion bottles last year alone, and that number is growing.

Plastic water bottles, shopping bags, food containers and countless other plastic products are finding their way into our oceans at a growing and record pace from dumping, by way of streams, rivers and tributaries.

Check out the Story of Bottled Water (8min) by Annie Leonard below.

The time for action is long past, but we MUST all help increase the awareness of these important issues. Help us help the oceans.
